Dear Sir,
We met six months ago today. I hadn’t the faintest
idea that I’d meet someone special at Comic Con. I wasn’t even looking. And little did I know where that “Hey 11”
would lead me.
Little did I know that you wouldn’t wait 2
days to ask me out. Little did I know
how brave and resolute you would be in getting to know me. And little did I know what a compassionate,
witty, narrative-loving friend I had gained in you.
But I know now, and I am infinitely grateful.
Grateful for text messages, for that one email, for "important life questions," for you getting to know my family and friends, for our - and my! - first real date, for movie nights, for the Renn Faire, for Portland date days, for bow-tie origami notes, for Pride and Prejudice read aloud's, and for all of the laughter!
We’ve been officially “together” for just
over 2 months now. We’re only at the
beginning, but oh what a beginning it’s been.
So thank you!

Dear Lady,
ReplyDeleteWhat six months of time has been for us, feels rather like six days to me. I could not have known that assuming the persona of a Time Lord would ever have worked.
But here I am today, six months or six days later I cannot really tell, writing my story no longer alone, but with a girl who has become my Companion.
For whether my Blue Box flies or drives through time or towns, I knew moments after meeting you that I couldn't wait to ask you out; that you let me walk you to the bus was more exciting than meeting Patrick Rothfuss.
And I am ever thankful that you did.
Thankful for those same text messages, for that email, for all the "important life questions". For a family that happily accepted me over bottomless fries and friends that approved me.
For every happy moment you've remembered, and every yet to be a memory, I am so very thankful, and as I could hardly wait to see you again, I can hardly wait to see you again.
No matter when.

So, er, Matthew. Hi! Sorry to butt in but you sound ridiculously lovely and I just have to ask: have you got a brother by any chance? ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, Samara you have rubbed off on me! I totally teared up reading that...both yours and Matt's. I'm so happy for you two! It is a wonderful story so far. It gives me hope and reminds me that God writes the best stories.
