I know I've been a bit neglectful on here.  I'm sorry - I really do miss it.  Due to the pace of the next few weeks, I probably won't be here as much as I'd like.  But I'm determined not to turn this space into a complaint over how much I have to do.  It is a lot.  But I had a good conversation with a colleague about how we may be stressed out, but over things we actually care about.  We chose school over a million other things we could have done.  And we aren't stressing over a bosses concerns.  For the most part, these are our own passions and instead of performing for someone else, our job is simply to make other people care.  So, as I go off and try to be productive, I'm trying to keep that mentality.  I may have a lot to do, but I chose this and I love this.  And for that, I count myself lucky.

Hello!

Guess who's home sick?  I know...bummer.  Just when I thought I had beaten this flu season :/

I survived an onslaught of bugs 3-4 weeks ago when it seemed like half of everyone I knew was sick.  But sure enough, after dragging my crummy-feeling self to work on Tuesday morning, I found myself packing my laptop and on a bus heading back home.  Then I slept for about 15 hours, with one 2-hour period of consciousness in the midst of that.  But I'm really hoping to be back at work tomorrow!  I'm kind of going stir crazy.  A girl can only take so much laying around, trying to push through sick-brain to work, and drinking gallons of orange juice.  Plus, this sickie thing is eating into my vacation days...grr!  I can do some work from home, which helps a bit, but I'm ready to be back to normal.

How about a few random thoughts to hold us over:

  • I joined twitter!!  You can find me @iwaitandhope :)  And yes, the large majority of people I follow are fictional or fandom related :/  So if you're a real person on there, please follow me so I can follow you back!
  • I'm finally going to buy a car :D  I start looking next month (which is also next week!).  I've been kind of slow on this front... or at least there were other priorities.  But I really wanted to pay cash for a decent car.  And I'm going to be able to!
  • Once I have the car, I'll have greater freedom to road trip!! I'm thinking of finding a weekend to go visit my brother in Spokane, or one to go visit Portland.  Portland's been calling my name lately.  Maybe I'll just have to find weekends to do both!
  • I've been on an old-movie kick lately... seriously, there are some reeeally good ones!  More to come on that.
  • Oscars this weekend!  So excited :)

With that, I'm off to take even more Vitamin C and a nap.  Loves!

New season

Hello, I've been meaning to write this for a while but, for those I haven't told, I'm excited to say that I'll be starting a new job a week from today =)

I am just wrapping up my current position and it has been such a blessing the last two years of college. It has been a great fit--they even allowed me to take seven weeks off last summer for my excursion in England!

But I am SO excited for my new position. About a month back I applied for an opening as a receptionist at an accounting firm in Bellevue. Honestly, it was one of a gazillion places I applied. But they were--and still are--one of the only companies to respond. After a phone interview, they asked me to come in. I chatted with a whole bunch of people on the admin team and everything went really well. At the end of the interview, the HR director and office manager came back in and told me that while interviewing for a receptionist, they'd had their eye open for an executive assistant to the president of their company. As the company's grown, they've needed someone dedicated entirely to him. They asked me to consider the role. I did. I met with the president the next week and that also went well... so they offered me the job =) This has been a hugely miraculous process--I mean, it's more than I had hoped!! And not just salary-wise, although, Lord knows, that's amazing; the whole position means more. More compensation, more influence, more challenges--but challenges that I feel ready for. I honestly don't think there will be an "ordinary" day in this role, and I think that's great!

So here's to new seasons, new adventures, hello's and goodbye's all at the same time.

Here's to tomorrow =)
