Props to Fandom

So... one of the best things about being a fangirl is the community of other fan-girls + boys that gather around that piece of art.  With Lizzie Bennet Diaries wrapping up - can you believe it? - a week from tomorrow, I am sad to be losing not only it's new episodes at least twice a week, but also the community that goes with it.  It's been such a joy to watch and then jump on to several different platforms to discuss what we've seen.  There are texts from friends and sisters (both of the biological and "Crawley" variety) and then fan-reactions and fan-sites.  And being that the material is rather nerdy - so are many of its viewers.  

So with fandoms such as the Lizzie Bennet Diaries or Sherlock or whatnot, there are some pretty creative people in those communities.  And today I found one of my favorite "fan-made" pieces yet.  It's a Sherlock parody by the props of Sherlock.  What I believe to be 1, maybe 2 fans, have created twitter accounts personifying different key props in the show - and they are hilarious!!  So far, they've only included the floor, the staircase, the wall, the smiley face, and the skull (who they've named billy, but who I've always thought of as a Yorick ;) but each has quite the personality!

So...guess who was planning to start 10-on-10 this month? And guess who forgot to charge her phone the night before? Ugggh :P

[I read a book on Monday... a whole book on Monday. One of the most delightful  parts was an ongoing debate on the "breakfastization" of eggs - particularly scrambled.  Why is it that you can put bacon on a sandwich and it gets treated with equality; but put scrambled eggs on there - it's a breakfast sandwich?  Above is a sound counter point.

So... just found out that this guy, the judge presiding over Bates's trial on the Downton Abbey Christmas Special...

... is Timothy Carlton - the father of Benedict [Timothy Carlton] Cumberbatch.

I just remembered a horrible nightmare I had last night!



I dreamt that there were structural defects in Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey!) and that they had decided to implode it!!

Downton fans and historians alike were outraged, staging protests, and even forming human shields. It was so intense. Julian Fellowes was trying very hard to keep it and everyone wanted to know--how could they possibly film a third season without the Downton Abbey itself??

...oh gosh, fiction invading dreams, yet again.

Well, praise God, I woke up this morning and Highclere Castle is in tact. There will be a season 3. Balance is restored to that fictional universe, at least.

Haha... beginning to worry about my subconscious =/ =)

Just finished Sense and Sensibility (BBC, 2008) with Miss Charlli =)

Seriously, this film is my favorite Jane Austen adaptation. Period.

I love Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. Of course, I love both of the contemporary Pride and Prejudice adaptations--but this is SO well done and just beautifully cast.

I highly, highly recommend seeing it if you get the chance.

And to wrap up marvelous British adaptations in a neat package, I give you a little surprise from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. 

There I was, enjoying the film and its incredible cast (Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, etc) when this little scene gave me a nice shock.

Peter Guillam (Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock) walks into a room and the secretary is played by Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith Crawley, Downton Abbey).

I turned to my friend and said, "My favorite BBC worlds just collided." haha

All that to say... I just love how intertwined British film/tv/stage is!

...entering home group with Ashley and Kayla and Dr./Mr. Simon greeting you by exclaiming, "It's the Crawley Sisters!"


...walking into three different conversations at said home group, all centered around Downton Abbey.


...a 27-year-old male classmate informing you that he spent Valentines watching Downton and drinking wine (bahaha... personal favorite moment of my day. Don't worry about him though! He's not depressed or erratic, it was just because his girlfriend was working.)


Just kind of a Downton Day! Now... we just need the Christmas Special =D

Ok... I know this song is overdone, but as I watched the season 2 premiere on Sunday, I could not help but think of this as Mary and Matthew's song. Apparently, another fan thought the same thing =)

Finally got to see some of Downton Abbey. It was sooo good.

Only got through the first two episodes... cannot wait to watch more.

Other than loving the story, cinematography, music, and characters... I love that so many of these actors have been in other movies that I love. So many veterans from Jane Austen and other period dramas. Love it!
